- A self-organised, zero-budget celebration of the 120th anniversary of the liberation of One Tree Hill.
- In 1905, after a long, dramatic campaign, One Tree Hill was saved from enclosure – for the people, forever. The Friends of One Tree Hill continue that campaign, working with the local community to enhance the ecology of this unique and beautiful site.
- 1.15pm. Past Tense’s Alex Hodson will lead a walk exploring the radical history of Peckham Rye + OTH. Meet outside Morley’s, 26A Peckham Rye, SE15 4JR. The walk will finish at OTH at 3.15-3.30. @past_tense_histories
- 3.40pm. John from Friends of One Tree Hill will introduce the work of the Friends and how everyone can get involved in the collective care of the site. @friends_of_one_tree_hill
- 3.50pm. Alex will tell the story of the campaign that saved OTH.
- 4.10pm. Poet-in-residence Hasti will debut their new poem about OTH. @youarehasti
- 4.30pm. Environmentalists Jazmeen Isa Qureshi and Seniz Mustafa will share reflections and case studies from their practices. @jazmeenswildheart @senizdoesnature
- 5.10pm. Foraging with Bec. Learn about some of the useful and edible plants around OTH, and how they got there. @crimetwinc_
- Evie de la Torre will be gifting out handmade ribbon badges mounted with twigs collected from OTH to keep as a memento of this celebration. @tittys_n_drapes
- 5.30pm. Jack Cornish of the Ramblers, author of the Lost Paths, will talk about the ancient history of paths as public rights of way, and what that means in the context of OTH. @cornishjack11
- 6.00pm. Alex Bretell will play two new songs about the liberation of OTH, as well as some Woody Guthrie and Crass covers. @folkvutur
- Then we’ll join our friends at the Watson’s General Telegraph… @wgtelegraph
- Bring food/drink/picnic blankets/sunscreen/umbrellas. We’ll go ahead regardless of the weather, unless there’s a massive storm.
